Obligations of Editorial staff

  • The Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial staff are committed to assure that every submitted paper will receive an unbiased and impartial evaluation in order to guarantee the Authors an accurate, impartial and comprehensive scientific judgment.
  • The Editor has complete responsibility to accept a submitted paper, or reject it. In order to reach this decision the Editor may ask the Editorial staff support and the qualified Reviewers evaluation.
  • As the Journal has an interdisciplinary approach and nature, the Editor and the Editorial staff make sure that the submitted papers will be assigned - along its content - to at least one Reviewer who is an expert in that specific subject field.
  • The Editor checks the Reviewers' expertise asking for an explicit declaration about their competencies about every single paper they receive.
  • The Editor and the Editorial staff will not disclose any information about a manuscript under consideration to anyone other than reviewers and potential reviewers. In any case the Authors' identity will not be disclosed to Reviewers.
  • Editorial responsibility for any manuscript authored by the Editor or a member of the Editorial staff will be delegated to an external editor, who will be personally in charge for the evaluation/referee process.
  • The Editor and the editorial staff should avoid situations of real or perceived conflict of interest. Such conflicts may include, but are not limited to, handling papers from their own students, from colleagues with whom the Editor has recently collaborated/co-authored other papers, and from those of the same research group.
  • Where, subsequent to publication, errors are identified in a paper, the Editor will facilitate publication of an erratum.
  • The Editor ensures a clear identification to the invited paper - which are not submitted to Reviewers' evaluation.
  • The Editor guarantees that the Reviewers' evaluation process is devoted to check manuscripts' comprehensiveness, accuracy and clarity.
  • The Editor is committed to inform readers about the undertaken actions which ensure unbiased evaluation.
  • The Editor publishes the Instructions for Authors, which is regularly updated.
  • The Editor publishes and updates the Editorial Board and Reviewers lists.
  • The Editor gives clear directions to the Editorial staff about their functions and duties.
  • The Editor is committed to supplement the Editorial Board when a highly qualified scholar is considered for his/her active contribution to the journal's enhancement and scientific development.

Obligations of Authors

  • Authors should submit an accurately written paper, along the Instructions for Authors, ensuring the content to be relevant in regard of the Journal scope and/or the Call for Papers.
  • The paper should contain an accurate and detailed account of the performed research.
  • Authors should cite any relevant reference or published research for a better understanding of their investigation.
  • Papers already sent to other journals or already published cannot be submitted to the Journal.
  • In the case of reviewers' remarks, Authors should make the requested changes, along the reviewers directions. When the amendments would not be applied, the paper may not be accepted for publication.
  • The manuscript's Authors will be only the individuals who gave a relevant contribution to the research and the paper's draft.
  • Any Author who believes that this Code of Ethics has been breached may send a complaint to the Editorial staff and to the President of the Italian e-Learning Society (www.sie-l.it).

Obligations of Reviewers

  • Any Reviewer who feels inadequately to judge a manuscript, as the content does not deals with his/her specialist subject, should inform the Editorial staff.
  • The Reviewer will promptly inform the Editorial staff in the case the paper cannot be reviewed in the due terms for lack of time.
  • The Reviewer will guarantee the freedom of expression with an unbiased judgment of the manuscript's quality, and be respectful of the Authors' scientific [intellectual] independence. Personal and/or ideological criticism will not be tolerated.
  • The Reviewer will avoid any situation of real or perceived conflict of interest and, in this case, refrain from evaluate the paper. Such conflicts may include, but are not limited to, the evaluation of papers written by their own students, by colleagues with whom the reviewer has recently collaborated/co-authored other papers, and from those of the same research group.
  • The Reviewer has to treat the manuscript as a confidential document, not disclose its content to third parties and refrain from using it for his/her own purposes.
  • The Reviewer has to explain own judgment properly, with unbiased and clear remarks.
  • The Reviewers' remarks are public and open to everybody.
  • The Reviewer will point out whether the paper does not list relevant and appropriate references to other authors' papers and/or articles.
  • The Reviewer will report copyright infringement and plagiarism.
  • The identity of the Reviewer will not be disclosed to authors unless the Reviewer would make explicit and justifiable request.
